Missional Mother's Day

I love being a mommy.  The Lord has blessed me with the responsibility to love my babies and raise them in a home that honors God.  My desire is to be the best mom for Abigail and Violet that I can be and to shape them into fierce arrows that will one day be launched out into the world for Christ.  And I have a lot of help on my side to accomplish that, Lord willing.  But what about moms who don't?  What about moms who CHOOSE LIFE but then walk that hard road alone?

{my first Mother's Day with Abigail}

Many teen moms choose abortion because they can't see past the fear that grips them.  Raising a child alone, young, isolated, scared, and poor can be a devastating reality.  Some teen moms are rejected and abandoned by their friends and family.  Some have never heard the Gospel or will leave their church out of shame.  As a Christ follower, my heart is overwhelmed with the reality that there are moms in my city who don't have anyone in their corner.  What would it look like if we linked arms with these young moms who are themselves just kids?  There is a great mission field right here in Nashville and here is one way you can get on it!

1.  Check out www.mothersdayhope.com and get a locally designed Mother's Day card for someone special in your life.  Proceeds help send a teen mom and child to the Young Lives Nashville Summer Camp!

2.  Pray for this growing ministry in our city and the volunteers that lead it

3.  Get to know a teen mom and pray for her

4.  Consider becoming a Young Lives mentor

5.  Invite a young mom to church and help her get there this Mother's Day!
